Disney’s Tinker Bell 50th Anniversary Snow Globe

Disney’s Tinker Bell 50th Anniversary Gold Glitter Globe. When Walt Disney’s animated feature Peter Pan premiered on February 5, 1953, audiences were delighted to finally see one of Neverland’s most famous inhabitants–Tinker Bell. Until then, Sir James M. Barrie’s prankish pixie had been portrayed on both the stage and silent screen as a darting burst of light. Thanks to the unlimited storytelling opportunities of animation and the masterful skills of the Disney artists, Tinker Bell could at last be more than merely a plot device; she became a personality. Directing animator Marc Davis worked with model Margaret Kerry to stage the antics of the firefly femme, and gave her a range of emotions spanning smoldering jealousy, selfless nobility and expansive glee. Tinker Bell flew to even greater heights in 1954 as the symbolic hostess of Walt Disney’s weekly television anthology program, and has remained ever present through appearances on film, video, and in the world-wide Disney theme parks. The Walt Disney Gallery is delighted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tinker Bell’s Disney debut with this shimmering snow globe designed by Disney Artist Chris Schnabel. Peter Pan’s sparkling sprite has landed atop a frosted water lily with a graceful arabesque, dazzling even the fish of the brook with her luminous presence. Golden pixie dust floats about the lovely fairy, who will soon be on her way once more to the land of high adventure, eternal youth and cherished fantasies. See pictures for more details.
